Keeps Review: Per-Month Prices, Billed Per Shipment

Keeps prints clear per-month prices for finasteride and minoxidil, then bills per shipment. What you actually pay, who reviews you and how to cancel.

Keeps is an online hair-loss service that sells generic finasteride, minoxidil and a handful of combination products after a free one-time consultation with a licensed medical provider. Its per-month prices are clear; the thing to understand before you pay is that it bills per shipment, every three, six or twelve months.

We read Keeps' product pages and FAQ on 22 September 2026. We did not sign up, so this Keeps review judges what Keeps publishes, on the same five tests we apply to every service.

What Keeps charges for finasteride

Keeps lists generic finasteride at $26.67 a month on the three-month plan, $22.50 a month on the six-month plan and $20 a month on the twelve-month plan. A footnote on its products page says medicines are shipped and billed every 3, 6 or 12 months, so the monthly figure is what the shipment works out to, not what leaves your account each month.

PlanPer month, as listedBilled each shipmentFirst order, up to 30% off, per month
Three months$26.67$80$18.67
Six months$22.50$135$15.75
Twelve months$20$240$14

The first-order column is the discount Keeps was running when we looked, and it applies to the first shipment only; after that the listed price applies. The twelve-month plan is the cheapest per month and the most expensive at the till, and its $240 arrives in one charge.

Same tablets, three plan lengths: the monthly figure against the charge

  • Three months$26.67 a month$80 per shipment
  • Six months$22.50 a month$135 per shipment
  • Twelve months$20 a month$240 per shipment
From the table above. Peach: what each plan works out to per month. Blue: what is actually charged each time a shipment goes out.

Minoxidil and the combination products

Keeps also sells topical minoxidil as a foam and a solution, a finasteride-and-minoxidil plan, oral minoxidil, a ketoconazole shampoo, and newer combination chews, drops, a gel and a spray. The finasteride-and-minoxidil plan showed $130 on the three-month option on its products page.

Two notes on the newer products. Keeps describes its oral minoxidil as prescribed off-label, which is accurate: tablets of minoxidil are a blood-pressure medicine, and using them for hair loss is a prescriber's decision. And Keeps calls its Minoxidil+ Spray "an all-in-one compounded spray", but the chews, drops and gel that combine finasteride or dutasteride with minoxidil appear on the product grid without the same plain label. Ask the provider which of them are compounded, and read the FDA's 2025 caution on compounded topical finasteride before choosing a gel or drop.

The Keeps consultation

Keeps asks you to pick a plan, then a licensed medical provider reviews your answers in a free one-time consultation and confirms whether the treatment suits you. Its products page says provider messaging is unlimited for one year, and its homepage describes the access as 24/7.

The order is worth noticing: at Keeps you choose the treatment first and the provider confirms it, where some services start with the questionnaire and let the clinician recommend. That is fine for a plain finasteride or minoxidil plan, and less so if you are unsure what your hair loss is. If it is patchy, sudden or itchy, see a doctor in person; our guide to what an online hair-loss consult asks you explains what a questionnaire can and cannot catch.

Cancelling Keeps

Keeps' FAQ lists three ways to cancel: in your Keeps account, through an online request, or by phone at (551) 290-3248 between 8am and 8pm Eastern, excluding federal holidays. If your next refill is due within 24 hours, Keeps asks you to phone so the cancellation is processed before the order, and it says you will get an email confirming the cancellation.

Keep that confirmation email, and check your card statement after the refill date you cancelled before. Because Keeps bills per shipment, a missed cancellation costs a whole shipment — $80 on the three-month plan — rather than a month. Our guide on cancelling a hair-loss subscription lists the notice periods for every service.

Claims to read carefully

Keeps' pages say its FDA-approved treatments are "90% effective at treating hair loss" and that it costs half what your local pharmacy charges. Neither figure is backed by a named study or a named pharmacy on the pages we read, so treat both as marketing.

The price claim is the easier one to test. Cost Plus Drug Company listed 30 generic finasteride tablets at $5.83 before shipping on the day we looked, so a prescription from your own doctor filled there costs far less than Keeps' tablets. What Keeps adds is the prescription and the provider, which is worth something if you have no doctor to ask; we run every route in what finasteride costs.

Who Keeps suits, and who it doesn't

Keeps suits a man with ordinary pattern thinning who already knows he wants generic finasteride, minoxidil or both, has no doctor he can see soon, and would rather pay once a quarter than think about it monthly. Its short list of plain generics is easy to read, and a three-month plan keeps the commitment small while you and the provider see how you get on.

It suits less well someone who is not sure what is causing the hair loss, because Keeps starts from the plan you pick rather than from a clinician's recommendation. It is a poor fit for anyone wanting to pay the least for the tablets, since a prescription from your own doctor filled at a cash-price pharmacy costs less. And if you want a combination gel, chew or drop, go in knowing that it is a clinical choice to discuss, not an upgrade.

How Keeps scored

On our five published tests Keeps scored 70 out of 100: 25 of 30 for price clarity, 14 of 20 for clinician access, 15 of 20 for exit terms, 9 of 15 for compounding labels and 7 of 15 for pharmacy choice. That puts it fourth of the five services, close behind Hims, and the full table is on our comparison of online hair-loss services. If Hims is your other candidate, Hims vs Keeps puts the two side by side.

Keeps' footer lists sister brands Cove, Facet and Nurx; we do not review those here. Keeps says its treatments are not covered by insurance.
